Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Box Office Revenue Revealed

: $27M Thursday, $391M First Week, $813M Worldwide Total

Star Wars: The Force Awakens earned a whopping $27.59 million on Thursday. That’s a drop of just 27% from Wednesday. Christmas Eve is usually an off day at the box office, with ticket sales shooting back up on Christmas Day. That’s why studios tend to open movies on Christmas Day even when they fall on “off days” of the calendar like a Saturday.

Anyway, it’s easily the biggest “didn’t open on a Wednesday or a Thursday” Thursday total in history, eclipsing the $17 million “day seven” of Jurassic World. For what it’s worth, the top Thursday ever remains the $50 million opening day of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith back in 2005. And if you’re asking, The Force Awakens still easily scored the top “day seven” Thursday even when adjusted for inflation.

For those wondering, Avatar earned $11.15 million on its first Thursday, a 32% decrease from the previous day, which brought its domestic total up to $137m.

The Force Awakens, which stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and Harrison Ford, has earned a whopping $391.1m in its first full week of domestic play. That puts it 22nd on the domestic list, between Warner Bros./Time Warner TWX -0.16% Inc.’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 ($381m) and Walt Disney’s Frozen ($400m). It will easily clear $400m domestic today on its eighth day in U.S. theaters. Jurassic World crossed the $300m mark on its eighth day and crossed the $400m mark on its tenth day.

The film passed the domestic gross of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith ($380 million) yesterday and will soon pass that film’s $848m worldwide total as well. And in terms of inflation, Episode VII will pass the “adjusted” $494m U.S. gross for Episode III sometime towards the end of this weekend. There is little chance that it doesn’t end up flirting with $550m domestic by Sunday.

The Force Awakens’ global take is up to $813.5 million. Like in America, many of the overseas markets are slow on Christmas Eve, which explains a “mere” $20m overseas total for the day (say it with me now: Can this franchise be saved?!). In just over a week of worldwide play, the film has become the 51st biggest grosser of all time, betweenShrek the Third ($799m) and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part 2 ($829m). It’s probably going to top $1 billion by the end of this weekend as well, possibly the $1.2b mark to enter the all-time top 10 as well. Yes, there is plenty to discuss in terms of inflation and the whole 3D/IMAX/PLF bump. But, we’ll discuss that when the time comes.

A huge amount of power inside.
How do you put 272 horsepower inside a vehicle slightly larger than a skateboard? The answer is with very great care. The Electric Ducted Fans (EDF), together with the controllers and the batteries, they occupy 90 percent of the space inside the board. This generates a significant amount of heat that is dissipated using a high performance cooling system. By using 36 power fans we ensure that even in the case of multiple motor failures there are enough motors remaining to take over so you keep on riding.

Facebook is an online social networking service headquartered in Menlo Park, California. Its website was launched on February 4, 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg with his Harvard College roommates and fellow students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. The founders had initially limited the website's membership to Harvard students, but later expanded it to colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. It gradually added support for students at various other universities and later to high-school students. Since 2006, anyone who is at least 13 years old was allowed to become a registered user of the website, though the age requirement may be higher depending on applicable local laws. Its name comes from the facebook directories often given to American university students.
